A3 Ward Green Ward Conversion, University Hospital of Wales

During the COVID pandemic we were appointed to carry out the immediate conversion of A3 Ward into a Green Ward. This involved installing a HTM complaint ventilation system independent to the rest of the hospital. We also updated the shower rooms and other sanitaryware items.

The project was to be installed in a very compressed programme period which included approval of plant and delivery. Which involved us being a part of the design process and acting quickly onsite with little time to gain approvals through the normal contract procedure.

The ventilation was provided with a custom built Air Handling Unit which was located inside the ward itself in a converted plantroom. The unit had to be flat packed and carried by hand up to the 3rd Level. The ward areas are serves by supply and extract air to meet the latest HTM requirements.

The project also required cooling units for the new IT equipment which involved a crane to lift the condensers into position onto the roof.

The project was handed over on time even with the compressed timeframe.
