Bishop of Llandaff School Boilerhouse

During the summer of 2020 we were awarded as main contractor the replacement of the boilerhouse in the Bishop of Llandaff School. The project was awarded in the middle of the COVID lockdowns which obviously created some issues with deliveries and uncertain if pupils were going to return to school in the normal fashion.

We installed a new 250mm underground gas main from a new meter at the boundary of the school through an approximate 230m run along the main pedestrian route and across the sports field. We had to carry out the majority of the groundworks before the school was reopened in September.

Once the asbestos and floor standing boilers were removed we installed 4 no Strebel SCB FS550 floor standing boilers with 3 separate heating circuits feeding the school. Along with the heating system new gas fired hot water generation was installed using 2 no Strebel S-WG35/200 water heaters.

The systems were all controlled via Siemens building management system. The pipework was also installed in stainless steel pressfit pipework in order to compress the installation programme.
