We successfully delivered a full design-and-build replacement of the Air Handling Unit (AHU) serving X‑Ray Room 7 at Nevill Hall Hospital, ensuring full HTM compliance and providing the hospital with a modern, reliable, and energy‑efficient ventilation solution.
This project involved the complete installation of a new AHU system, including a purpose‑built maintenance corridor and a carefully engineered ductwork distribution route serving the X‑ray suite directly below. Given the restricted structural height of the room, high‑level wall grilles were incorporated to maintain optimal airflow while working within tight spatial constraints.
One of the most challenging aspects of the project was the safe placement of the AHU on the hospital’s flat roof. This required detailed lift planning to avoid the surrounding RAC roof structures and to position the unit on a reinforced concrete section of the roof.
A crane was strategically positioned at the end of the site, enabling a controlled lift over the entire roof area. The operation was executed safely, efficiently, and without disruption to hospital services.
The AHU installation was completed on programme, aligning with the wider refurbishment works for X‑Ray Room 7. The result is a modern, compliant, and robust ventilation system that supports reliable clinical operations and enhances environmental control within the imaging suite.
